Breakthrough Cologne – A Kingdom Flu-Epidemic

COLOGNE, GERMANY…   Artistic.  Passionate.  Proud.  Diverse.  Celebratory.  Loyal.  Relational.  Tolerant.  Misled.  Disillusioned.  Materialistic.  Confused.  Open.  Seeking.

The stunning Cologne Cathedral, Kolner Dom, is the symbol of a city that has very little to do with the God who it as created to honor.  Carnival, the ”fifth season” in Cologne, accents the lighthearted, party culture of a people who longs to celebrate life and relationship and yet hasn’t found either in fullness.  FC Koln, Cologne’s professional soccer team, draws 50,000 die-hard worshippers for each game.  The Dom, Carnival, FC Koln–people longing to give themselves to something bigger than themselves.  A people seeking to fill the void, to solve the mystery of life and its purpose.  What is God’s destiny for this city?  What is His dream for the establishment of His Kingdom in Cologne?

Those serving with Greater Europe Mission in Cologne are asking these questions, going hard after the answers and expectantly trusting God for a Kingdom “Breakthrough.”  The “Breakthrough City Initiative” is about pursuing God’s Glory in the city through intensive prayer, wide spread evangelism, sacrificial service and apostolic mission.  We are desperately searching for “people of peace”, who respond to the Gospel and take it  into their relational circles.  Through intentional multiplication of disciples, we envision a movement of rapidly reproducing simple churches permeating the city and expanding in every direction–an uncontrollable Kingdom-epidemic!

If you are a passionate follower of Jesus who is ready and willing to radically rethink and live out what means to follow Him and live out Church, Breakthrough Cologne just might be for you.  We are looking for people who desire and are ready to focus completely on simple, organic discipleship/church planting.  The “what” is basic but crucial–doing what the Apostles did:  prayer, sharing the Gospel, and discipling new believers to multiply disciples and plant churches.  The “what not” is also crucial: no involvement in traditional church and no (or very little) church or “Christian” programming.  If you resonate with this and would like to learn more, contact Adam Gascho at agascho@gemission.com.
